We are the parents of two adopted daughters from China, Louise and Frances. When we traveled to China for our first daughter Louise, we had every intention of making a short watchable movie of the trip that we could share with family and friends upon our return. But the demands of a new baby and everyday life meant our six hours of tapes and hundreds of photos sat in a box on a shelf for two and one half years. We edited our footage and photos to Louise's favorite song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and as she watched herself become a part of our family, we immediately realized the possibility of making videos like this for other adoptive families. The purpose of the videos also evolved from a condensed version of the trip’s highlights into a moving testament of becoming a family. With our background in documentary filmmaking and multimedia, we believe we are very well suited to producing videos like these for others. The videos we produce are unique to each family--we don't use a template, we make the creative choices about footage and photos, and the videos we produce have the children in mind. All you need to do is to select a song(s) for us to edit your material to, and then ship the CD containing your music, and all of your materials to us (See the Song Suggestions page for a list of some music favorites). Remember, the finished video must be for your personal use only. Below is a chart of our prices.
These mini-documentaries are important to our children—we know they are an important piece of how they begin to see themselves, and we take that as our starting point. We will go through all of your material from your trip (be it international or domestic) and edit an emotional, comprehensive, poignant video for your family. Our daughters have watched their own videos over and over and then wanted to play act our first meeting, their first bath with us, all along asking questions about their caregivers or their orphanage. They are slowing processing what it must have meant to them to go from one culture in one country to our home and our family. We adopted our second daughter Frances in the spring of 2003. It was a very different trip from our first, and the video reflects our reality of worry over Frances's health amid the chaos of SARS monitoring, coupled with the joy of meeting our second wonderful daughter. We hope you enjoy watching our videos. We would love to make a video our your family's adoption trip. For more sample videos, click here Technical note: The
